Designing With Web - Part 3: week 1

Facilitate safe migrations

Group 135

Project 1: Welcome Home

Context

when? where? who? why?

The explosion of factors responsible for migration has resulted in recent years in an average annual increase of 2.4% in the number of migrants. Today, more than 258 million people in the world do not live in their country of birth. These international migrants represent more than 3.4% of the world's population.

Among these migration factors, we find one that has become increasingly important in recent years: migrants from LGBT communities. These people make the choice to migrate outside their native country because their sexual orientations are not accepted, and may even put them in danger in their own country. According to an association helping homosexual people, between 2015 and 2017, the rate of foreigners has increased from 10% to 28%, in only 2 years. (see references part)

It takes time when one arrives in a new country to integrate, adapt, understand the codes already established in society. It happens that people find themselves in isolation and have little or no ability to fully integrate into their new environment. Many factors can quickly become problematic: language, administrative procedures, jobs, etc...

In order to make these steps more accessible and understandable, we could centralize them within the same application so that it can serve as a "help reference" to facilitate the integration of migrants.

Target

for whom?

According to the UN , a migrant is whoever leaves its traditional home and cross an international or a regional frontier. There are thus different realities behind this generic word. This platform seek to help people who were forced to leave their home country because of their sexual orientation , ie people who belong to the LGBTQIA+ community. It concerns for instance Chechen people , the country of which simply deny their existence and who are persecuted. That's why we are not targeting students, who are often helped in their administrative procedure by their universities , nor the senior who seek a more sunny and affordable retirment.

Service offered

what? how?

This service would aim to centralize all the services migrants need to integrate in a new country after having had a difficult journey. It would take the form of an app and would bring together solutions for:

- learning the language

- integrating into the new country’s world of work

- having basic needs such as housing, food and health services

- feeling accepted and meeting other people with different backgrounds

Each migrant could register for free and obtain all the information needed to contact the organization offering the service in question.

A telephone number and an email address will also be offered so that migrants can obtain additional information. This service will also be offered to foreigners who have not yet made the choice to migrate. This would therefore be a listening service necessary to accompany the person and perhaps allow them to migrate with as little fear as possible, knowing that support will be provided upon arrival.

Project 2: EASYGRATION

Context

With more and more migrants for political, social or even environmental reasons and an European population which is increasingly distrustful of foreigners and particularly of the immigrant population, we are in a time where immigration will become more and more an issue for everyone where humanism, tolerance and mutual aid will be sought.

Therefor, it seems important, on the one hand, to help the populations arriving in the territory to help them integrate and have good living conditions, and on the other, to raise awareness among the population towards the benefits of immigration, because we should not be afraid of it, and to encourage them to help migrants and why not welcome them.

Target

Our app is essentially destinated to migrants who fled their country urgently and could not learn the language or plan their future in the country of arrival which is France in this case. So our app targets refugees above all. But it also allows French people who want to help to know where to offer their services.

Service offered

Our second project is a platform that connects French people with migrants to exchange services. In fact, French people can publish announcements of services such as help with administrative papers, language courses or simple meetings with local inhabitants to facilitate the integration of migrants while migrants can offer in return their services such as gardening, discovery culinary elsewhere etc ... To sum up here are the functions of our app :
